RG&E Russell Station

Russell Station was one of Rochester's major coal power plants. It was owned by Rochester Gas & Electric corporation. The station consisted of four generating units that produced as much as 260 megawatts of electricity. Unfortunately, it also emitted 20,000 tons of pollutants annually. This led to a decision to close the plant in 2008. After considering various options, the plant was finally demolished in 2016.
