A. Friederich & Sons was the lead contractor for the construction of this beautiful sanatorium and health resort. The grounds included all the amenities of a first class resort hotel including an elegant dining hall, a luxurious drawing room, sunbathing rooms, a rooftop terrace, an inground swimming pool and tennis courts. Sadly, after years of total neglect, this grand old building is now dilapidated, overgrown and crumbling. It has become a favorite destination for urban explorers.
Update: A fire started on the upper South floors on the morning of March 18, 2023 just before 6am. The fire department was unable to put the fire out as conditions were unsafe to enter the building to suppress the fire and fire trucks could not access the area.
